What We Do

Favor International brings healing and hope into war-affected communities with the power of the Gospel. We serve and train national leaders who are serving and training others to transform their culture. Our work continues well beyond salvation as we serve communities through schools, Christian radio, Bible distribution, outreaches, children care, and our Leadership Training Institute.

Our Approach

Through fourteen years of ministry, we have learned that only a holistic, Christ-centered approach will bring true and lasting transformation to the life of a nation. In our work, ministry is the vehicle to establish relationships that build up every facet of the lives of individuals and communities. Favor has four departments that make up the structure of the ministry: Community Revitalization, Prayer & Evangelism, Education & Discipleship, and Economic Empowerment. Sustainability hinges on laying a foundation of Gospel truth from which to raise up national leaders to guide the ongoing process of restoration. Our life-on-life discipleship looks like us walking alongside each Ugandan widow, each South Sudanese gang member, each orphan from where they are and giving them the light of Jesus. Teaching hygiene, reading and writing, or taking a trip to the market with them are just some of the intimate ways we use life to disciple. Much of the precious, transformative moments we share with our friends back in the US are after hours, days, weeks, and even months of investing into each person we meet.

Testimonial Video

“So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him” Luke 15:20

We are confident in the mysterious ways in which God is moving. We’re reminded of a testimonial about our friend, Clement. Before meeting Clement, our staff had been devising a plan to initiate contact with the Murle people. This particular people group reside in an area of South Sudan that is extremely dangerous. Unless you are someone from that people, you will be killed. Clement was at a dejected season of his life. We met Clement in a prison in Juba, South Sudan. We had a Portable Bible School (PBS) team ministering to his particular prison. The Lord moved miraculously and saved over 100 inmates. There were water baptisms! There was worship and prayer! The light of the Gospel radiated from these new believers, Clement included. Carole, our founder, received a call one day from a fellow staff member. They excitedly informed her that we had finally found a way into the Murle villages. They told her of a man named, Clement, who was full-blooded Murle and was recently released from prison where he gave his life to the Lord in a PBS. The Lord wisely uses someone from the people to reach the people.

Clement Testimony

Prayers have been asnwered! God knows how to build His church! Even the gates of hell CANNOT prevail! Jesus finds the treasures in the darkness.

Meet Clement from Murle and a recent graduate from our PBS. He will be TAKING THE GOSPEL AND WHAT HE LEARNED to his tribe! #FavorPBS #Disciplesmakingdisciples

Through this process, villagers learn how to rebuild their own lives and communities through the Hope of Jesus by practical application of Gospel truths. The success has been miraculous. Communities nearly destroyed by war are becoming thriving centers of spiritual, social, economic and educational growth. Many villages are now sending missionaries of their own to their unreached neighbors. With full knowledge of local language, culture and customs, these national leaders are the most efficient agents of transformation possible, accomplishing more in one year at a fraction of the cost than American workers could achieve in a lifetime.

“They wanted to cross the water, so what did they do? They cried to Moses, and Moses cried to God. God said, ‘Raise the rod.’ What happened? The waters parted. They walked on dry ground. But now when Israel was ready to take the Promised Land of Canaan, did God say to Joshua to raise the rod? What did He say? ‘Put your feet in the water!’ It was a different tactic. You better hear God for every battle. The first battle it was ‘Raise the rod.’ The second battle, ‘Put your feet in the middle of opposition, and I will give you the land of Canaan.'”

Introduction to Favor

Favor International is a non-denominational, independent missions mobilization and leadership training organization founded in northern Uganda and also operating in neighboring South Sudan. Our passion is to mobilize indigenous leaders in frontline battlegrounds to align their communities with God’s purposes in every aspect of life.

Founded by Ugandans and American missionary Carole Ward, Favor began as a prayer movement during the international war with Joseph Kony and the LRA, which ended in 2006 by the hand of God. Since 2002, God has directed Favor to exclusively make disciples during and after the war. Our team is now serving tirelessly in Arabic-speaking South Sudan, which has experienced generations of civil war, bringing the Gospel, theological education, holistic transformation of entire communities, prayer movements, and reconciliation of religious and political leaders.

Carole continues to lead Favor as the International Director and serves on the boards of all three nations (US, Uganda, and S. Sudan). Favor International is a Florida- incorporated 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to seeing national transformation sustained by principles revealed by the entire Bible and Jesus’ own life. More than 85% of donated support goes directly overseas to support this multitude of discipleship programs that renew both individuals and communities.

We are facilitating frontline moves of God one community at a time. In this work, sustainable national transformation occurs through four general means:

  • Community Revitalization through sharing the Gospel to unreached communities and discipling individuals, to then lead a wave of restoring broken, war-torn communities.
  • Prayer & Evangelism is where the fundamental work lies when a team of missionaries decide to expand to the next unreached community.
  • Education & Discipleship continues the advancement of leadership development and community revitalization.
  • Economic Empowerment prioritizes the financial independence of each community we are serving.

A Word from Favor

“You want God to do the impossible? Put your feet into the impossibility, and watch God divide the water… You watch God do the supernatural, but go step on it. Go step on it.”
